Tasneem Steenkamp is the Senior Technical Advisor for Climate Finance and Innovation at the Presidential Climate Commission, seconded through GIZ South Africa. As a professionally registered Environmental Scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat) with 16 years of experience, she bridges the gap between climate policy, technical risk assessment, and financial implementation.

Tasneem has led projects across diverse sectors. She brings multidisciplinary expertise in climate resilience, spatial and land use planning, water governance, energy transitions and assisting fund managers and development finance institutions with climate-impact opportunities and ESG risks. Her technical proficiency is matched by a strong track record of facilitating multi-stakeholder collaborations - from national government departments like the DTIC to private sector innovators.

Tasneem holds four degrees, including an MPhil in Sustainable Development (cum laude). Her thesis focused on spatial transformation, which grounds her work in the necessity of an inclusive and equitable transition for all South Africans.
