Lulamile Makaula
Senior Project Manager: Climate, Energy and Water
Lulamile Makaula is a sustainable development practitioner, with a focus on climate change, economic transformation, and development. He has experience in research, government and international relations, stakeholder engagement, and research communication. Lulamile is currently a Senior Project Manager at the National Business Initiative (NBI). In this role, he works on the NBI’s climate change and energy projects in support of the just transition in South Africa. Prior to the NBI, Lulamile worked for the University of Cape Town (UCT) Graduate School of Business, where he conducted research for a multi-disciplinary research project on business responses to social-ecological complexity, supported by the UCT African Climate and Development Initiative (ACDI), Embedding Project, and National Research Foundation.
Lulamile holds a Masters (MPhil) in Inclusive Innovation and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Practice from UCT. His undergraduate education is in geology and holds a bachelor’s degree majoring in mining geology and mineral exploration.
